There is less of a chance of tripping the HP flags. If this is the case I would just use the Windows 8 Recovery Drive Creator program. If you want to make a second copy there are a couple of hidden files that you need to edit. There are other issues with the HP Recovery Media Creation program that allows you only to make one copy. The only solution if you want to use a USB flash drive that is not recognized by the HP Recovery Media Creation program, is to use the Microsoft Windows 8 Recovery Drive Creator.

This is how to create your recovery media if the HP Recovery Media Creation program is not working for your 16GB USB flash drive. This will bring you to the Windows 8 recovery drive program that will allow you to make a copy of the recovery partition. Type in “recovery” and click on the Settings option.
